Mission & Core Purpose

Founded in 2003 by a group of Italian scientists with extensive national and international experience, ARCHES (Advanced Research Centre for Health, Environment and Space) is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and executing European Union research, innovation, and development policies.

Operating as an agile interface between academia, high-tech industry, and European policymakers, ARCHES leverages its international networks to secure human and financial resources, build competitive R&D consortiums, and accelerate technology transfer for measurable societal and economic impact.

Strategic Practice Areas

Aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, our operational activities are structured into four core practices:

1. EU Project Engineering & Consortium Building

We assist research institutions, industrial leaders, and deep-tech enterprises in designing, structuring, and securing funding for multi-partner projects under Horizon Europe, IPA programs, and regional innovation frameworks.

2. Technology Transfer & 4-D Acceleration

Using our standardized 4-D Execution Framework (Discover, Diagnose, Design, Deploy), ARCHES bridges the gap between academic intellectual property and commercial market deployment. We facilitate soft-landing pathways, cross-border corporate innovation, and technology validation across international corridors.

3. Deep-Tech Auditing & Regulatory Compliance

We conduct forensic evaluations of high-tech ventures through the ARCHES 12-Pillar Forensic Audit. We evaluate Technology Readiness Levels (TRL), IP robustness, ESG metrics, and strict regulatory compliance with European standards, including the EU AI Act, GDPR, and the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

4. Human Capital, Gender Equality & Capacity Building

  • Young Researcher Career Development: Building the next generation of scientific leaders through international training mobility, joint research supervision, and career mentorship.

  • Gender Equality in Science & Innovation: Promoting female talent in STEM, advancing women's research careers, and enforcing gender equality plans. ARCHES is a proud supporting organization of the European Platform of Women Scientists (EPWS).

Key Strategic Alliances & International Footprint

Since 2003, ARCHES has expanded its global reach by establishing formal strategic alliances with political forums, academic centers, and deep-tech pioneers:

  • Knowledge4Innovation (K4I) (Brussels, 2009): ARCHES co-founded the Brussels-based K4I platform, creating a high-level forum within the European Parliament to promote dialogue on innovation policy among Europe’s top political, industrial, and academic stakeholders.

  • METU-TEKPOL (Ankara, 2023): Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Middle East Technical University’s Science and Technology Policy Research Center to foster joint policy research, academic exchange, and innovation strategies.

  • MIA Teknoloji (Ankara, 2024): Established a strategic collaboration agreement with MIA Teknoloji, a Turkish deep-tech unicorn specializing in AI-driven solutions, to bridge industry-academia cooperation and advanced technological deployment.

  • Fotontek (Ankara, 2025): Partnered with Fotontek, an innovative deep-tech start-up operating in microelectronics, semiconductor chips, and telecommunications infrastructure.

  • ViFrameAI (Istanbul, 2025): Formalized a strategic partnership with ViFrameAI to advance multimodal AI systems for medical diagnostics, environmental surveillance, and decision-support systems in compliance with EU ethical AI standards.

  • Global Business Inroads (GBI, Bangalore): Partnered with GBI under a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding to establish the EU–India Deep-Tech Corridor, enabling cross-border venture capital activation, technology transfer, and market expansion.
